Angkor Explorer 3Days Tour
Day One: Morning visit: The ancient Khmer capital of Angkor is today one of the most remarkable and impressive sights in all of Asia. For much of its 600 years, the Angkor empire’s regional power was unrivalled, and under a number of its ‘god-kings’ such as Jayavarman the 7th the artistic exploits of the Khmer kingdom went unrivalled.
Foremost amongst these is the 12th Century temple of Angkor Wat itself . Taking the lengthy sandstone causeway across the temple’s huge moat transports visitors into a world of Hindu and Khmer legend and artistry. We journey on through the magnificent South Gate of the fortified city of Angkor Thom to the Bayon, where more than 200 massive stone faces of the Hindu deity Avalokiteshwara make for one of Angkor’s most dramatic sights. Walk the Terrace of Elephants nearby, and explore another of Angkor’s remarkable Afternoon Visit: Experiences: the jungle-covered temple of Ta Prohm, where gigantic snaking roots wind in and out of the pavilions, corridors and crumbling walls of a grand structure which once boasted over 600 resident dancers, now reclaimed by towering jungle trees and screeching flocks of parrots.
Evening : Apsara show performance with Dinner show Day Two: Morning: Visit The petite Banteay Srei features intricate carvings in pink sandstone. Bantey Srei “ The capital of women” Afternoon :Visit Big Cycle of Angkor Areas such as Bantey Sam Re , Tasom , Neak Poan , Preah Khan . Evening : Sunset at Phnom Bakheng or Preah Rup Day 3: Visit Kampong Phluk
Kampong Phluk: is a cluster or three villages of stilled houses built within the floodphain of the Tonlea sap about 16 Km southeast of Siem Reap. The villages are primarily khmer and have about 3000 inhabitants between them. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques. During the dry season when the lake is low, the building in the villages seem to soar atop their 6 meter stilts exposed by the lack of water. At this time of the year many of the villagers move out onto lake and build temporary stilted house. In the wet season when water level rises again.
Our Tour takes in the great lake in all its wonder, enjoy a boat trip exploring the local village and see areas such as the floating school, markets and clinics. (Please note the government restricts entering these places, you must stay in the boat)
Afternoon : Visit Rolous Temple Group. For those with a temple pass a quick visit is possible to Bakong Temple. For those without some great photo opportunities are possible from the outside of this temple. Our guide provides information on these very early tmples, including some of the history of Bakong and its infamous past.
